Karigasniemi — Kevo - Ailigas
Karigasniemi is the right place for starting most beautiful individual tours to Northern Lapland, the Arctic Ocean and to the North Cape.
The ”Kevo-route“ is about 10 km away to the direction of Kaamanen. You will see the famous spring water area ”Sulaoja “ which is the
biggest one in Finland and very important for the water requirements in our country.
On the other side of the road you will follow the beautiful territories of ”Karigasjoki“, ”Muotkatunturit“ and the Canyon
”Stuorraäytsi“.
When walking within this area you are kindly asked to take care of the nature. There are water protection rules and restrictions
for fishing and hunting.
Come for bird watching and observing the nature with it's big variety of Arctic flowers.
The local information authorities will tell you how to move within the wilderness area and which places you should see.
You should also visit Ailigas. It is only about 6 kilometers away from Camping Tenorinne. Here you are on the second highest mountain
within the Utsjoki Community. You will feel the joy of the view to the snowy mountains of Norway and to a marvellous lake district.
The most beautiful time for an excursion to Ailigas is autumn which means the end of August until mid of September when the Ruska
(forest glowing with autumn tints) presents it's colourful face.
